Milwaukee Area Hospital Visitor Policy Update: Aug, 2021
Hospital policies in Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin have fluctuated a few times over the last 18+ months. I’ve been staying current on birthing related policies in order to better support my clients as they prepare for labor regardless of where they plan to give birth. Policies may continue to shift in response to community numbers but here’s what you can expect as of 8/18/2021.
Aurora Hospitals: Aurora’s current visitor policy states that for Labor and Delivery patients may have “Two visitors at a time plus one doula permitted”. Aurora hospital locations birthing locations include- Aurora Sinai, West Allis Women’s Pavilion, Grafton, Kenosha, etc.
Ascension Hospitals: The current visitor policy isn't on the Ascension website, they encourage visitors to call local departments to verify policy. However, Ascension Hospital locations have been permitting doulas in addition to ONE support person since last fall. Ascension Hospital birthing locations include- Columbia St. Mary’s Milwaukee, St Joseph’s in Milwaukee, Elmbrook in Brookfield, Columbia St. Mary’s Ozaukee in Mequon, and All Saints in Racine.
Froedtert Hospitals: Froedtert’s current visitor policy states that covid negative patients may have two visitors in the birth centers, covid positive patients may have one visitor. Froedtert locations include the main campus in Milwaukee, Froedtert Menomonee Falls, and Froedtert West Bend.
ProHealth Care Hospitals: The current ProHealth Care visitor policy states that TWO visitors will be permitted at both ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital and ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital.
